My own (slightly positive) thoughts on the whole ladyboy issue behind a

I know a lot of people have been bummed out by this, which is totally understandable, and I'm not trying to say that anyone's feelings are invalid. I know I've recently learned a lot about accepting my privilege and understanding that just because something doesn't bother me doesn't mean it isn't problematic.

However, saying that, I'm going to have to give the boys the benefit of the doubt here. The thing is, while I'm aware that the term 'ladyboy' is used as a pejorative, I know it is also by used by some Thai mtf individuals in the same way that homosexuals in America use the term 'faggot' to describe themselves, or as a term of affection/endearment. (I'm not necessarily saying this is right or wrong. Even as a woman in an 8-year relationship with another woman, I find it problematic that gays and lesbians are given free reign to describe things as "gay" - as in, a synonym for shitty - simply because we are gay. But that is another issue, and I don't want this to post to be about wank.)

Getting back to my original point, as far as we can see, Ladyboy is a friend and ally to the band. Isn't it entirely possible that it is a name that he has chosen for himself? I've seen a few Thai movies where boys refer to themselves or each other as ladyboys without any negative connotation. MCR has, in the past, always been pretty darn good about issues surrounding sexism, racism, and homophobia. Now, if it turns out that they were just being assholes, or trying to be shocking, I have no problem with holding them accountable for their bs.

Also, if someone more learned about kathoey than I do, please let me know. I'm really, really not saying this to offend, and I'm more than happy to learn a new perspective.

ETA: I guess this is all a moot point since Gee said that the character was never supposed to be called/referred to as Ladyboy, so feel free to ignore...

Also, DUDE! My score on THNKS FR TH MMRS was 66,666. I am too amused at that to be annoyed with the fact that I only got 96% -- I got 100% on all the other FOB songs (on singing. on guitar I'm like, 98-99%) but look, the ending is tricky, and apparently all this time I've been singing HARMONY. WTF? I need to sing the melody. I lose.

we just downloaded the two mcr songs last week, and my kids (and we adults) have been having a blast with those. =D

I just saw the MCR ones! This is what I get for not checking daily.

The new Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock comes with I'm Not Okay and Dance Dance, and then I downloaded an FOB track pack for it that has The Take Over the Break's Over, thnks fr th mmrs, and This Ain't a Scene It's an Arms Race. I'm pretty sure I have another FOB song than the ones you listed, but I could be crazy. Then we have She's a Handsome Woman from Panic. I need to get Black Parade now, too. I'm so excited. But yeah, with the GH (I'm not sure if you have any), most of the songs that came with the game, plus any downloaded ones can be imported to any of the other GH titles.

Sorry, I do go on, don't I. And this is for 360, but I'm pretty sure the dls are available for the Wii, too, if you're playing on that.

And, yeah. I try not to take immediate offense to things until I know what's going on (like, I still don't understand why everyone assumes that Bob was kicked out rather than left for personal or health reasons). But unfortunately I've realised that I'm probably too easy going about this sort of thing, and don't always get when things are problematic.

yeah, i don't get that, either. most of what i've heard makes it sound like bob left, but people are mad... at the rest of the band? i'm so confused.

You should look into getting one of the Guitar Heros and/or Band Hero -- the older ones are pretty decently priced now. You can usually get World Tour with the guitar, drums, and mic for under 50 bucks, and those instruments are compatible with the newer games. I'd def. suggest getting it for the 360, tho, b/c they get the best downloads. For example, "Na Na Na" was released for the 360 Guitar Hero a couple days ago. Plus all the FOB.

The Bob thing is so confusing! I mean, I love Bob, too. But he's always seemed like a pretty private person, so I don't get why people would automatically assume that no details = horrible break up, rather than no details = respecting Bob's privacy. But then again, bandom in general seem to think they own the right to every aspect of band member's lives, so IDK. And he's working with animals! I imagine he is totally happy with that.

the guitar hero thing, though, will probably never happen. we already have rock band, and buying band hero (i'm a drums girl) seems like an unnecessary expense at this point. it sucks that band hero came out about six months after we bought rock band. we would've held out for it.
