I would like to argue that since I work overnights, and don't go to sleep until around 2pm my time, that this still counts as day number five. I'll do day number six when I wake up this evening, or something.

So...favourite quote. I'm not really sure I've ever given it much thought, so I'm going to go with a line from the movie "Four Rooms," in which Jennifer Beale's character Angela says, "Everybody starts out as strangers, Ted. It's where we end up that counts." I mean, it's simply hilarious in the context, but it's very meaningful too, particularly to me.

I'm such a socially awkward person that the "getting to know you process" can be quite difficult or strange for me, and I've often said that I'm not going to bother with it. I'm not going to play nice and pretend to be someone I'm not, just waiting to see if a person might be compatible with me as a friend, only to find they're not, weeks or months later. I'm going to be straight-forward and honest about who I am. Someone might think "why would you tell me this?" and my thought on the matter is, if it bothers you now, aren't you glad you heard it straight up and didn't waste time on me?

People can take this to a very uncomfortable extreme, and I wouldn't say I'm too bad about it. But if I meet someone who seems cool and interesting, who might share my interests, *shrugs*

Here's a link to "The Wrong Man," the part of the movie where the line is spoken. Lots of fun, but I recommend the whole thing, too. There's bonus David Proval! Kissing Ted! I used to hate "Lie to Me" until I started watching it as a sequel to this. Tim Roth plays the lead character Ted, and Jennifer Beale's is his wife in LtM, so, yeah. The line is at about 6:59:
