Dilemmas! OTPs! Bandom AUs!
Nov. 8th, 2010 02:44 pmWhy do I not have more time? Why can I not do multiple activities simultaneously and fully enjoy and experience them all? I have had the great misfortune of becoming obsessed with a new tv show and a new game at the same time. Woe.
So, everyone told me to watch Psych. Everyone told me it was amazing and slashy, etc, etc. I tried watching a couple episodes here and there and just found it ridiculous, and from then on when people told me this I eye rolled. Okay, I'm the sort of person who can*not* get into something if I don't see it from the beginning, which was proved when Muse started watching Psych on Netflix last week. Suddenly I didn't just like it, I *loved* it. Instead of finding Shawn annoying and stupid, I found him sort of oddly charming, and Gus no longer seemed like a pointless flunky there just to make Spencer look smarter, but like, IDK, Shawn's best friend and brother, and no longer was Shawn's relationship with his father weird and uncomfortable, but actually very realistic and touching and sweet.
And then there was Lassiter. Who I guess I'd never even noticed in the few episodes I'd seen. But OMG, new OTP!!!! Shawn and Lassy, so much love (dude, I'm only about 12 episodes in and there is already so much inappropriate touching and looking and yum sexual tension yum) Shawn sitting on Lassy's lap, Shawn writing Lassy love letters ("the h and k mean hugs and kisses"), Shawn calling him LASSY! Lassy's constant manhandling of Shawn, or his casual and frequent touching and leading Shawn with hands on arms or arms around shoulders, Shawn rubbing Lassy's shoulders, the looks, the flirting, Shawn trying to cheer Lassy up and give him credit for cases, Lassy trying to help Shawn be involved in his father's life, Lassy vouching for Shawn in court, THEM IN CIVIL WAR ATTIRE! I could go on, but this is unnecessary. What is necessary is more fic always. Anyone have recs?
On the other hand I have Fallout 3 (which I've discovered my love of, just in time for the release of Vegas, oh, I can't wait to get my hands on that once this is finished, and speaking of Vegas...) which is amazing and engrossing and the best game I've played since KotOR I and II, OMFG. I love the world building and the quests, and levelling up is my favourite, and goddamnit, how do I always end up a good guy in these things when I set out with the worst intentions??? And the world-building really makes me want to write bandom AUs (which is another reason playing Vegas will be awesome! I'll have actualfax in world locations and characters to draw on) where Brendon is the kid from the vault and Spencer and Ryan were born in the Wasteland and have been roughing it all their lives, and IDK, there are threesomes. I haven't figured it out too much yet...like, IDK if Brendon will be fresh out of the vault and so obvious and Spencer and Ryan are super resentful and like save his life and then are like "get the hell out of here, you don't belong, go back to your pampered life" or if they meet him a while after he's been out, and he's all hardened from travelling alone, and they have no idea at first that he's the guy who's escaped from a vault. But. Yes. And it doesn't help that all the MCR Fabulous Killjoys stuff fits in perfectly with Three Dog and his Galaxy News Radio fighting the good fight against President Eden and the Enclave. Gee et al can be Paladins. And Pete owns a town! Where Gabe runs the bar! I'm just saying...
Where is my time to read, watch, write and play simultaneously???
