*dances around impatiently*
Jun. 12th, 2009 03:28 amGuys!!! I wanna post my fic!!! This whole waiting thing is killer. Somehow it's even worse now than it was in the months leading up to this. Like how when you get close to Christmas, you're suddenly reminded of it. And seriously, BBB is so much better than Christmas. I've managed to read 7 so far, even with homework and tests. I was gonna stay up all night tonight reading until I remembered we have a make-up grammar class tomorrow. WHY JAPAN??? THERE ARE TWELVE OPEN DOCUMENTS TO BE READ!!!!
So, what's everyone's favourite so far? I feel bad even *picking,* because I've loved every single one I've read, but I was definitely waiting the longest for Waiting for the Sky to Fall by
katrin and
shihadchick. I love this universe so much. Seriously, there is nothing better than Spencer Smith as the Vampire Slayer, IMHO. His bitchface! His sassy hips! His ridiculous sidekicks! (and their ridiculously hot threesome). Come on, people. Best. Thing. Ever.
Also utterly amazing and highly anticipated was
foxxcub's I Dream a Nation of You. I could be happy reading different stories in this universe for *years*. It was so warm and inviting and well-crafted without being heavy-handed about it. But what am I saying? Look at the author. What else it to be expected?
Another one that I really enjoyed was
dimmingdivine's And Whether Pigs Have Wings. It felt like a nostalgic, classic Brendon/Ryan.
One thing I've definitely noticed, at least in a fair majority of those I've read, is that the endings feel really rushed, and a lot of times I've been disappointed, like I was really invested in the story and liked it, and then it just ended abruptly, with little to no closure. I am not a fan of open endings. Like, I don't expect everything to be tied up neatly with a bow. I don't need vows of love or weddings or babies or anything like that. But when I've spent 20k+ getting into things, I'd like a little more than a line or two of resolution.
I know I might be alone in this. I know that 'slice-of-life' is pretty popular with a lot of people, and that's cool. And I'm not saying the fics were bad, by any means. Just. Sort of a let down at the end. It also has me worrying about my own, because as I got towards the end, I just wanted to be *done* with it. Now I'm rushing to go over it and make sure it is fit to be posted, lol.
Anyway, BBB. Talk to me people. I'm giddy with joy. What should I be reading? What will be posted later that I should be drooling to read? And dude, do we have some talented artists in this place, or what? I haven't gotten to listen to any of the mixes yet, but I've downloaded some. Which ones should I check out??
Now I'm gonna go pass out so I don't fall asleep in class in five hours...ugh.
