Thanks to Hannibal fandom, I've finally given in to the horrifying new world that is tumblr. I resisted for so long, but if I want to be involved, I know I have little choice. I've written a few things for that fandom--a couple short fics, and one long fic that's nearly finished (and OMG, IDEK what to do with myself, it's sort of incredibly popular, like on the first page of AO3 Hannigram by kudos and comments, wtf is this??!?)
Anyway, if any of you are on tumblr and into Hannibal (or any of my other random fandoms) please look me up. It would be great to see some familiar faces over there! Same name as here: http://moku-youbi.tumblr.com/
Hope to see some of you!

Good to see you're alive! ♥

Tumblr is fantastic for certain aspects of fandom. I'm not a Hannibal fan so I'll pass for now, but I think you'll really enjoy it!

Hi!!!!

Yeah, I'm still not crazy about it. It's like they go out of their way to make it difficult for users to have a dialogue and build relationships-- like you either have to reblog the entire post and add your two cents at the bottom and hope the original blogger sees, then bothers to go ahead and REBLOG the whole thing again with their response...or you send an ask (but it's limited unless you're following each other) and when you respond privately that ask disappears from your inbox FOREVER...Or you can occasionally leave comments on posts, but they can't be responded to, so you have to go into the fucking html and copy and paste into a new post?! WHYYYYYYYYYYY?!!

I miss this place so, so much :/

But, Hannibal fandom is seriously so amazing. Like, all the warm fuzzies I got from Bandom, but with the added fact that my ships are all canon (gay characters! bi characters! pan characters! actual married Murder Husbands and Murder Wives :DDDDD) and on top of it, basically everyone involved loves the fans and encourages us. The creator/writer/director Bryan Fuller retweets fanart and talks about fanfic and how he himself is just a fic writer, basically, taking someone else's material and transforming it, and how loves that we do the same thing, and he thinks it's beautiful and is so glad we're sharing in on it. And the leads and a lot of the supporting cast also read and rec fanfic, like WTF is my life??! They enjoy and encourage it!

They, as well as the production company, writers, and other behind-the-scenes folks love us. They listen to fan feedback and adapt the story accordingly! They interact with us in a very genuine and meaningful way! They work all sorts of hilariously awesome fandom references and terminology into the show (like Murder Husbands, OMG, I died when it became canon)

aaaaand, tl:dr, if the only way to be in fandom is tumblr, fucking fine, I give in :DDD

oh, man, that sounds like the best fandom to be a part of, seriously. *nods*

tumblr is awesome for sharing things you like with each other, but when it comes to actually communicating and connecting with people, it really, REALLY sucks.

actually, the other day i was searching the tags for something, and i stumbled upon an adorable campaign (by people clearly new to fandom) to get people to switch from tumblr to livejournal, because lj was better for interaction and fic. there were even instructions.

recently, though, a bunch of my online friends and i have been lamenting the lack of lj in our lives, so perhaps there's going to be a shift back in this direction?

On the one hand, it is an amazing fandom and everyone's so nice, but on the other hand, the exchanges with them just aren't very meaningful, and it's hard to keep motivated and continue communicating when it's such a pain in the ass (and I still haven't figured out the "rules" about when to reblog and when to privately answer, and when to comment and shit, so I always worry that I'm doing it wrong)

Oh man, that would be amazing if LJ made a comeback! (and just my luck, lol, right as I give in and go over there). I just don't think tumblr is somehow any better for sharing things, I guess? Like, how hard is it to click a damn link someone put on their livejournal?! And within a fandom, it's obnoxious that pretty much EVERYONE reblogs the same shit, so your dashboard gets spammed with the same things over and over. And there are people I follow who post upwards of 100 things a day, and I've had to put their usernames in tumblr savoir so I can even LOOK at any other content from other people.
I just think the interface sucks, and it's been around long enough, there's no good excuse for it (how ridic that there are no filter options and people have to use extensions to make tumblr functional?!).
I know, I know, all complaints, blah. It just confuses me how quickly fandom flocked over there, and how long people have stayed. If I had any other choice, I'd have said "fuck this."

once again, tl:dr, how are you? Are you still working on the plan for gay/trans youths? I thought that was so awesome. I'd love to do something like that!

i've had to restart this comment twice because the cat stepped all over the laptop and navigated away from this page.

ANYWAY, tumblr is super awesome for signal boosting things and keeping abreast of current events and sharing fan art and pretty things, but sucks super hard when it comes to fic and meaningful conversation/relationships. for me, ao3 definitely wins for fic, but there's nothing better than lj for building friendships.

in my circle of friends, i think, it's accepted that when it comes to tumblr, who we follow there has more to do with what we want to see than who we're friends with elsewhere. we can talk to our friends on twitter or fb or whatever, but tumblr, for us, is mostly for pretties.

still planning on the lgbtq youth thing! just inundated with post-move things, so it's on the back burner for now. =/

that makes sense. I feel bad about not following some people, but they just spam my dashboard with shit I don't want to see. But luckily fannibals are so nice, so I'm slowly building friendships there. But in general, it seems like fandom has changed. It's so much harder to make true friendships. I mean, there are bandom peeps who've been to my home on multiple occasions, and who I've visited, people who, to this day, are part of my life, and I just don't see that happening here, which is a bummer.

Moving sounds tough. We've contemplated it a few times because of shitty neighbours who like to play their music loud, but it just seems impossible to try to get our shit together enough to sell this place, even with just one kid. IDK how you can do it with two!

I look forward to seeing more about the lgbtq thing again someday. Muse and I have officially given up on having our #2 after 2.5 years and miscarriages, and lots of money. We have lots of room in our house, and it would be nice to do something with it, and the love we have to share.

that would be so great. one of the biggest roadblocks, i think, is going to be finding people i know are trustworthy to take these kids in, you know? like, it's all well and good to have pages and pages of volunteers, but how do i know they're not a bunch of pedophiles? even if they have clean criminal records, it doesn't mean they're not predators. it's tricky.

i'm so sorry about your inability to conceive another child. =(

Understandable. I've considered trying to offer just to someone around here, but it's like you say. You can never know who to trust, and I imagine it's even more difficult for someone in their situation. But I see a lot of posts about these at risk kids on tumblr and my heart breaks for them.

didn't i see you post something about jamberry once? are you a consultant? i'm 'attending' an australian friend's online party next week, and her consultant drives me actual crazy, so i don't want to continue using her, if i end up liking the stuff. also she lives in australia. and the only other friend i know who even uses it lives in sweden, so. i may be looking for someone a little closer to home...

haha, yeah, I sell it. If you're speaking of Malin, I'm the one she and Karin buy from. It's not a big thing, I don't really push it on people. But if you want some, just let me know!
