mokuyoubi: (Steve/Joe Toxic Twins)
So, now that I'm actually actively writing this superhero fic, I've realised what a huge undertaking it is. I'm not exactly sure how to tackle it. I mean, the main focus was originally Panic! and the OT3, but I want to tell *everyone's* stories. Like how Patrick's power is his super competency, and how Chicago has all the legacies, they can't help it, okay? And how Gabe and the Cobras are the *worst villains ever*. And I don't mean, like, that they do the most horrible things. Just that they're really bad at being villains. Like, probably no one really needs to foil their dastardly plans, 'cause they'll do it themselves. Except that one time, when Gabe was cunning, and Patrick had to rescue everyone because super competency isn't a real power, Pete, and this is what happens when you go to a card game thrown by a super villain, I don't care if he's dating Mikey!

And then there's the story of how the Chemical Brothers got their powers (Frank only wanted to be able to communicate with animals, okay? He just wanted to be, like, Dr. Doolittle) and how Mikey's power is the best ever, omg, but I can't tell! And they all have superhero names except Bob, who Gee just calls Bob in press releases and Bob's like "WHAT THE FUCK, DUDE???" And Gee's all *handwave* "Do you know how many Bobs there are in the world? Besides, it is a badass hero name."

Of course you have other villainous groups, as well. The Cab operate out of a casino in Vegas, and at first Ryan and co. don't take them seriously because, well...their super villain names don't inspire a lot of fear. Or. Well. Anything. Seriously, what self-respecting villain calls himself Cash Money? Or Singer? But it turns out they're pretty ruthless.
Or there's the seductive Honey Pot and her boys--the Dispenser, Morning Star, and the Thrall--who are classy villains.

Also, don't judge me, I seriously wanna have a cameo by Steven Tyler and Joe Perry as the Toxic Twins, okay? Because they were my original bandom OTP from the time I first saw them at 12 and they were licking/rubbing/kissing all over each other...

And, like, I want to have different settings/atmospheres for each of the groups, so it feels out of time and place, so you're always wondering--wait, when is this taking place? Where are these people. And all that I've mentioned doesn't even cover all the different characters/bands involved, who all have their own stories to be told.

The problem is, I have no idea how to accomplish all of this. Already I have a handful of scenes that take place in various times--I have a feeling this isn't going to be a very linear story. Which is mostly okay for all the establishment/episodic bits. However, there *is* an overarching plot to the whole thing, and that's why I'm concerned. I think it would be awkward going from all these scattered scenes to putting together a clear narrative. Does this make any sense? Anyone have any tips? Also, would anyone be willing to gmail chat with me some time and just brainstorm. Someone to bounce ideas/superhero names/bits of dialogue off? I'm gonna be busy the next couple of days, but probably Wednesday or Thursday evening would be a good time for me.

In the meantime, I think I'll get started on the beginning of the Oiran!Spencer fic, too.
