Why does fic?

This is what my brain has been reduced to by this fic, currently at 15k, and hopefully at least 3/4 finished. At least I'm writing daily, and it's making me happy. And I sincerely wish I had more time to write, but my baby is TOO CUTE! Current dilemma is whether or not to definitely set this in an AU England. The main problem with that is that most of my understanding of monarchical history is FRENCH, and I sort of assumed the British, like the French, married their heirs off YOUNG, but this is apparently the opposite of true. French/Dutch, sometimes the Spanish, married their heirs off at, like 13-17, but the British, man, they were waiting til the heirs were 22-28. WTH? You'd think given the lifespan they'd want to secure the next heir asap. *shrug* So there's no reason for 16 yr old Spencer to marry with any urgency. Damn me for wanting historical accuracy. So it's easier to just not name the country, but in that case I have to come up with fake name places, and those just make me lol. Oh, my woes.

Also, for a different (perhaps related) fic, thoughts on magical mpreg? Should the male in question be made female for the length of the pregnancy. Or just remain a dude, only pregnant? Imagine it's up to fairy godparent Pete to decide...
